The Promise of the Wayward Son
by Scott Johnson

Oh, Heavenly Father,
Oh, Earthly Mother
It is I, your wayward son.

The follies of self-bound thought striped me of consciousness
and spirited me away.
The veil of illusion blinded my eyes from the holy path,
The hand of greed pushed my footsteps beyond the Garden Gate.
The crust of pride plugged my ears from your gentle call.
The sweet smell of sin and the taste of death lured me
into the dark places of Time and Separation.

Long have I, in shame and guilt, hidden from your sight.
Long were the nights when I cowered in fear that you would discover me.
Fearful of the pain my retched countenance would cause you.
From time to time, from death to death, and life to life,
a glimpse of your holy creation would catch in my retched sight
and I would hear the gentle voice of truth.
But the veil of illusion would always return to
Thrust me into darkness.

All manor of life have I endured.
From Kingly pleasure to the despair of slavery,
All manor of death have I endured,
From the painful agony of torture to the gentle release of sleep.
In broken pieces have I experienced all earthly things.

Lost and alone I remained secure from your sight.
So lost was I, that my love and longing for you turned to hate and spite.
But you planted the seed of reemergence deep within me
And from that secret center I longed to return to thy holy grace.

Foolish was I to think that I was lost and hidden.
And foolish was I to think that I was alone.
For you let sprout in me the seed of higher consciousness,
So, that I may hear the voices of the watchers.
You have sent your glorious angels unto me
Who have urged me forth into the light.

In my willfulness, it was I who stepped off the path
And it was I who blinded my eyes and plugged up my senses.
But it is your eternal Love, Heavenly Father,
that has revealed to me the path home.

You have shown me that the path to the Heavenly Father
Passes through the Temple created in the Earthly Mother,
which I have so defiled and filled with filth.
You have shown me that the Holy Temple can only be cleansed
in communion with,
the Seven Angels of the Earthly Mother and
the grace of
the Seven Angels of the Heavenly Father.

Oh, Heavenly Father,
Oh, Earthly Mother,
It is I, your wayward son.

I have sinned,
But I have also learned.
I have learned and experienced the expression of self in all degrees of existence.
I have learned and experienced the depths and heights of emotion in all its forms.
I have learned and experienced the need for compassion and understanding in all things.
I have learned and experienced the need for balance, cooperation and synergy.
I have learned and experienced the bounty of life when one follows the sacred laws of the Earthly Mother and I have learned the torment of death when one does not.
I have learned and experienced that, that which is termed as evil and sin, are but the desperate calls for love and the catalyst to understanding.

I have learned that the Angels of the Earthly Mother are
Sun, Water, Air, Earth, Life, Joy and The Earthly Mother.
I have learned that the Angels of the Heavenly Father are
Power, Love, Wisdom, Eternal Life, Work, Peace, and the Heavenly Father.

Heavenly Father, Hear NOW my vow of obedience.

I Promise to cleanse and purify my body and mind
to sanctify the Holy Temple.
I Promise to establish and maintain communion with the
Seven Angels of the Earthly Mother and
the Seven Angels of the Heavenly Father
each morning and evening until the end of time.
I Promise to allow them to help me achieve
the State of perfect balance and Unity with all creation.
I Promise to awaken at dawn and work in concert with the Earthly Mother.
I Promise to surrender to sleep at night to work in concert with the Heavenly Father.
I Promise to be wayward no more.
